SPATIAL ORGANISATION

The school building is arranged to be accessible and simple to navigate for all users of the school: The design is focused to create two schools in order to optimise the ease of management thereof and ensure good supervision of the learners at all times.

For ease of surveillance the main pedestrian entrance and vehicular entrance were placed along the same edge. The second pedestrian entrance is on Bartholomeu street that is informed by existing movement routes and the new public transport drop-off. Due to the placement of the vehicular and main pedestrian entrance on Dawn Street, the more public functions of the school are situated close to the North- Eastern edge of the school. The Grade R stand-alone component fits snug on the public interface edge as this edge provides passive surveillance and is bordered by the local community housing.
